We were just forgetting Napster. Now it’s Limewire. Is Bit Torrent next?

November 8, 2010 at 8:38 am (Entertainment, Law, Music, Politics)

I bet you ANYTHING that the only winners from the recent federal court decision to shut down Limewire because of their copyright law infringement are the lawyers.

Record companies should see that their current business model, that predates the internet, is NOT SUSTAINABLE. You’d think, after the billion “things gone viral” scandals that they would get the hint. Apparently not.

Personally, I don’t like how mainstream “artists” -and I shudder to use the term, because there is very little artistic about Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and oh yeah, didn’t even Paris Hilton try to sing? -basically areover-produced faces that present an image that sells to the young and witless. Although those characters were the ones that made the real money, the real talent remains hidden and much less celebrated: the composers, the lyricists, the choreographers, the musicians, the mixers…why?

I would love to see a complete overhaul of the business. Let’s NOT give underaged girls like Lindsay huge sums of money that feed addictions, for contrary to popular belief, some people DON’T ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT’S BEST FOR THEM. Is she being a productive member of society when she goes in and out of rehab, and worse, TAXPAYER-PAID JAIL???? Why are taxpayers paying for the food and rent of a multi-millionaire, underdeveloped and misguided child? I’m so sick and tired of that scandal, by the way. Can we eradicate it from all newspapers now please, it’s so old…give me some investigative reports on immigration law corruption, anything….

Anyway, two solutions:
1)It’s high time the music industry streamlined the business.  Produce quality, advertise and sell it over the net (iTunes?). The Golden Age of CDs will never return, no matter how many millions you spend trying to bring down file-sharing sites: 5 will pop up the second 1 goes down, with even more ingenious ways of keeping themselves seemingly legal. I would be astounded if the laws themselves weren’t amended in some way soon to make them more realistic and with the times.
2)We’ve learned to get around spending ridiculous amounts of money on music, now let’s learn to celebrate actual quality.  Aspiring hopefuls abound on Youtube, and I think other elements of music-producing could boast their talents and hard work on there as well, collaborate, interconnect the world. What is the internet for -or better yet, how best can we use the internet?

ARHARHAR. iluvmylife and classical music obsession v.5382905823

June 9, 2010 at 10:39 am (Friends, Music, Travel)

as much as I wish this visit would be perfected by CEL COMING, it might be a good thing for me not to /diefromhappyoverload and always have something to look forward to. Living with cel is just a matter of time, then I can permanently live in a state of utter bliss. THEN WE CAN FORGET HOPE AND FAITH AND LIVE IN PURE LOVE ON EARTH. harharhar leave it to the evil trio of cellieface, shawnamuffin and jennamelon to overcome the….NEVERMIND 8D.

celfaith, jennihope and shawnacharity.

My interview, in my view (NPI), went very very well. Principal Agent Carmen from John Casablancas was the sweetest agent I’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting. I’m sure she has market prowess, it’s a notoriously difficult industry to succeed in, and she’s much more multi-faceted than I can yet fathom. But initial impression was nothing short of lovely, and I hope we have many more encounters to come. I’ll link to the website with the roster of models ONCE I’M ON IT 8D pretty exciting stuff.
So now my goal is losing 10 pounds while attempting to make shawniepie GAIN 10 pounds while on his short visit. tehehe, we’ll see how THAT goes.

new vocab: NPI. -acronym for no pun intended.

I heard my dad playing some Mahler no. 5 and it triggered an intense longing for some classical. It makes me feel calmer, relaxed, and SMARTER. yeah, it’s essential to a good econ study sesh. So, a few embeds:
Tempest Symphony by Mahler

Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber

Reverie by Claude Debussy (I played this a few years back for my grade 9 RCM exam I think… or was it a comp? I forget..)

for the first time in over 3 years! hikochan, yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

apparently I was the only one blind to this… cel called him a “prospective suitor,” my mother had warned weeks ago that “anything is possible.” sorry mother, I doubted you…. I didn’t think this was possible, after 20 years. I’m so glad it did X3

music to practise:

ps cel: “aishiteru no hibikidakede tsuyoku nareru kigashitayo” -“I love you” resonates, I feel stronger just because.
